Termite Control

Termite Control & Protection in NJ & NY

Did you know that termites have been around since dinosaurs roamed the earth? In all these millions of years of evolution they’ve become quite a natural adversary. Fortunately, Ace Walco has been battling them for over 86 years, and we’ve built up an arsenal of our own.

Termites cause over $5 billion in property damage annually—damage that standard homeowner's insurance typically won't cover. In the New Jersey and New York region, the threat is even higher due to our humid climate and aging housing stock.

At Ace Walco Pest Control, we don't just treat the termites you see; we eliminate the colony you don't. Whether you are buying a new home, protecting a historic property, or dealing with an active infestation, our licensed experts provide the structural defense you need.

We will begin with a thorough inspection of your property. This includes inside and outside, where colonies often form before they move in for a structural attack. Next, we will customize a treatment plan specific to your needs. This targeted approach will put the hurt on any termite colony, and you will begin to see results almost immediately.

After a termite issue has been treated, it is important to prevent future infestations as well. This is where our termite prevention programs come in. Again, we will work with you for a targeted solution that keeps your home and property termite-free.

Our Termite Defense Solutions

Liquid Barrier Treatments

For immediate protection, we create a continuous treated zone around your home's foundation. As termites attempt to tunnel through this treated soil to reach your wood, they are eliminated. This method provides rapid results for active infestations.

Advanced Baiting Systems

For long-term colony elimination, we install discreet bait stations around the perimeter of your home. Foraging termites carry the bait back to the nest, sharing it with the queen and colony members, effectively destroying the population from the inside out.

Real Estate Inspections (NPMA-33 Forms)

Buying or selling a home? Most lenders in NJ and NY require a Wood Destroying Insect (WDI) Report. Our certified inspectors provide thorough, honest documentation (NPMA-33 forms) to help your closing go smoothly.

The Ace Walco Colony Elimination Process

1. The Forensic Inspection
We check the danger zones that others miss: sill plates, expansion joints, hollow blocks, and soil-to-wood contact points. We identify not just the bugs, but also the moisture issues attracting them.

2. Customized Action Plan
We don't believe that one size fits all. A slab-on-grade home in Staten Island requires a different approach than a home with a dirt crawlspace in North Jersey. We tailor our solution to your construction type.

3. Renewable Warranty Protection
Our job isn't done after the treatment. We offer renewable warranties that function like a specialized insurance policy for your home. If the termites return, so do we (at no cost).

Know the Signs: Subterranean Termites

  • Mud Tubes: Pencil-sized tunnels running up foundation walls.
  • Swarmers: Winged insects (often mistaken for flying ants) appearing in spring.
  • Hollow Wood: Baseboards or floors that sound empty when tapped.
  • Discarded Wings: Piles of translucent wings found on windowsills.

Frequently Asked Questions (Termites)

How do I know if I have termites?

Good question. Trying to determine the difference between an ant and a termite takes expertise. Book a free appointment and our trained inspectors can let you know.

Do I really need a termite inspection if I have a brick house?

Yes. Termites don't eat brick, but they build mud tubes over or through cracks in the brick/concrete to reach the wood framing inside your walls.

I have termites. What now?

Book an appointment and we will inspect your home for free. Our trained inspector will go over the details and present you with an estimate.

How long does a termite treatment last?

Liquid barrier treatments typically last 5 to 10 years depending on soil conditions, while baiting systems are monitored annually to ensure continuous protection.

What is the difference between a flying ant and a termite?

Termites have straight antennae and wings of equal length. Flying ants have bent (elbowed) antennae and wings of unequal length. If you aren't sure, save a specimen for us to ID!

Can I still sell my house if it has had termites in the past?

Yes. Past termite activity is common in our area. As long as the issue has been treated and you have documentation (which we provide), it rarely stops a sale.

I am selling my home and need a Wood Destroying Insect Report (WDI). What's next?

First you need to book an appointment. Next an inspector will come to your home for a thorough evaluation. This service usually costs $165. We will then email you the report so you can provide that documentation at the closing of your purchase.
